สำนักพระราชวังจึงเตรียมจัดกิจกรรม พิเศษในครั้งนี้ เพื่อร่วมเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระบูรพกษัตริย์แห่งราชวงศ์จักรี และเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ตลอดจนเพื่อเฉลิมพระเกียรติสมเด็จ พระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินีนาถ ในโอกาสที่จะทรงเจริญพระชนมพรรษา 80 พรรษา 12 สิงหาคม 2544 และเฉลิมพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระบรมโอรสาธิราช สยามมกุฎราชกุมาร ในโอกาสที่จะทรงเจริญพระชนมายุ 60 พรรษา 28 กรกฎาคม 2544 ด้วย จึงเป็น 3 โอกาสสำคัญที่จะจัดการแสดงชุดพิเศษนี้อย่างยิ่งใหญ่ และการแสดงครั้งนี้สืบเนื่องจากการที่ สำนักพระราชวังได้จัดการแสดงเฉลิมพระ เกียรติ ในพระบรมมหาราชวัง เมื่อปลายปี พ.ศ. 2541 ในโอกาสที่ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงเจริญพระชนมพรรษา 72 พรรษา ต่อมาในปี 2542 ได้จัดการแสดงสัญจรใน 8 จังหวัดทั่วประเทศ ซึ่งประสบความสำเร็จอย่างน่าประทับใจ เพราะ “คนไทยรักในหลวง”
